Common Responds to Maya Angelou Being Pissed, “We talked before the song was released.”

Wednesday morning, rapper/actor Common stopped by NYC’s the Breakfast Club and cleared the air on if he was actually dissing Drake (in his song, ‘Sweet’) and if he was at all sensitive about Serena Williams’ alleged romantic relationship with Drizzy. In addition to promoting his new album, he also responded to reports that Maya Angelou is pissed with him about using her in a song, in which he uses the “N-word.” On if Angelou is upset about the song:
Me and her talked about it before [the song was released] and we talked about it again…She doesn’t agree with it….She said, ‘You can’t separate me and Common.’ She’s happy that she’s on the album…it’s bigger than using the N-Word. We gotta get past what this word is….
