Community Dopeness :: 50 Cent Supports Somalia relief

Last year, the United Nations officially declared a state of famine in Somalia. It has been estimated by the government that over 50,000 people have died as a result. And although last week, the U.N confirmed the end of the six-month famine, there is still a widely spread need for food resources in Somalia. Their struggles have not gone unnoticed. Rapper 50 Cent teamed up with the World Food Program and flew to Dolo, Somalia on Wednesday to view first hand the degree of seriousness of the situation. On the Street King facebook page, 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, shared some photos and wrote,
“I’m in Somalia this week to show the world the devastation that is taking place. Children going hungry everyday, even dying everyday from hunger. I am going to keep sending thru images from out here. I need you to take these photos and re-post to your friends. The world needs to see what’s going on.”
According to WFP, Jackson has pledged to give 1 billion meals to the hungry and also donate 10 cents for every bottle of his energy drink, Street King, that is sold.
