Jesus-Take-The-Wheel-Literally :: Pastor Marvin Winans Attacked & Carjacked In Detroit

Pastor Marvin Winans was carjacked and assaulted Wednesday afternoon at a Detroit gas station. The 54-year-old pastor was pumping his gas when a group of young men that he had originally saw inside the station followed him and attacked him. Luckily, Pastor Winans doesn’t think that he is seriously hurt, but will still see a doctor to make sure everything’s okay. The popular pastor is known for running the 4500 member, Perfecting Church, on Detroit’s east side. He recently gave the eulogy at Whitney Houston’s funeral. Winans released a statement, explaining:
“I’m just saddened that it has come to this. This kind of nonsense just has to stop. It’s just the savageness of what’s happening in the street.”
Yikes! This could have ended much worse.

I’m so glad that he is okay. Such a shame; violence like this is horrific.
Thank God he’s fine. The Lord say’s vengence is mine said the Lord. So those gut’s are in BIG trouble.
WOW!!! I wonder if these young guys were able to be identified and will be held accountability for their actions.
SMH…
This type of violence is happening all over. My persepctive, as a child (I am 56) we had strong black families in the community with role models (from Janitors to Engineers). Now, as many of us have fled to the suburbs, you know whats left. No, you dont have to move back in the community but we have a responsiblity to go back and get in the lives of all of these young kids. The teenagers, the criminals, we cant save them all but we damn sure can start with kids in gradeshool. And for all of the blacks that feel it is not their problem, it damn sure is. This violence is spreading all across the country and neither you nor your kids are safe. And rememember, we came from slavery and there have been a lot of black ancestors that paved the way from us. Summary, try giving back. It is hard for a young black child to dream and be positive when all he/she sees is drugs, violence, no black fathers and young sisters having babies when they are in fact babies. Hopefully, with enough work, we can build our urban cities back up. Last thing, kind of funny to hear my black friends talk of moving to the suburbs while my white friends are moving back to the city – Go Figure.
