The people have spoken and President Barack Obama has been re-elected as president of the United States.

Before the official call was made, Obama tweeted:

As of 1 a.m. EST, Obama claimed victory, commanding electoral mandate – at least 303 electoral votes to 206 for Romney – and had a near-sweep of the nine most hotly contested battleground states. In terms of the popular vote, the popular vote went 50 percent for Obama to 48.4 percent for Romney. Peep highlight’s of his acceptance speech.
