Former Oprah OWN Employee Files Sex Discrimination Lawsuit
Some negative press has hit Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network. Reportedly, one of her former employees, has filed a sex discrimination lawsuit against her network. A woman named Carolyn Hommel, who is the former Senior Director of Scheduling and Acquisitions, claims she lost her job with the company because she got pregnant. According to court documents, she was hired in 2010 had consistently high performance reviews before she had to take medical leave. After returning to work, the woman allegs that she was passed over for a higher position when her superior fabricated a performance review. She is now seeking unspecified damages. There has been no statement issued about the lawsuit by the network or Oprah’s camp.
