[WATCH] Ashanti Hints That New Album Will Discuss Relationship With Ex-Boyfriend Nelly

For years, rapper Nelly (Cornell Haynes) and singer Ashanti have side-stepped questions surrounding their relationship. Reportedly, the couple dated for over three years and we even saw a tricked out ATL birthday that Nelly threw for Ashanti. But those days are over. Early this year, rumors kept swirling that the two had broken up and that he was dating a video model named La’Shontae Heckard.

We’re unclear if they’re exclusive but they’ve been spotted together partying in ATL and a few other cities. Anywho, it appears Ashanti has moved on. Recently, she chopped it up with Sway in the Morning and was asked about her relationship with the St. Louis native. Peep a few excerpts.

“Who said we had a relationship? I’ve been recording for a couple of months now. There’s a lot of heartfelt records on their. I think everybody can relate. Everything has been real-life experiences.”

“I think that what’s important is to find someone that you have things in common with. Whether you have a nine to five or you’re in the industry or IDK if you’re into computers or doing nails. You find somebody that you’re kinda compatible with.”

“Let me tell you something, I’m going to have an army-I love kids. I think I want to have six. We’ll see what happens. I know I hafta get started. I got a couple of more things do first.”

“I fear more so of disappointing. I never fear that I’m going to do something so crazy that for that other side of her to come out, I think I’m past that.”
