Rick Ross Apologizes to Reebok, Says Its Been One of His Biggest Mistakes
Less than 24 hours after getting the ax from Reebok, rapper Rick Ross has responded, with an apology. He first sent out a tweet, writing:
And later issued the following statement:
“Before I am an artist, I am a father, a son, and a brother to some of the most cherished women in the world. So for me to suggest in any way that harm and violation be brought to a woman is one of my biggest mistakes and regrets. As an artist, one of the most liberating things is being able to paint pictures with my words. But with that comes a great responsibility. And most recently, my choice of words was not only offensive, it does not reflect my true heart. And for this, I apologize. To every woman that has felt the sting of abuse, I apologize. I recognize that as an artist I have a voice and with that, the power of influence. To the young men who listen to my music, please know that using a substance to rob a woman of her right to make a choice is not only a crime, it’s wrong and I do not encourage it. To my fans, I also apologize if I have disappointed you. I can only hope that this sparks a healthy dialogue and that I can contribute to it.”
Two questions for you…is his apology sufficient enough for the sneaker brand to take him back? And do you believe his apology is sincere.

I dont think it was sincere, it was more so because it was forced by reebock dropping him because of the lyrics he didn’t want to just act like he doesn’t care about that money not coming in no more. He knew what it sounded like when he recorded it. Its not like it was a freestyle live on the radio and thats what happened to rhyme off the top. This is a prime example of how the industry is breaking down. When Trinidad James released his popped the molly song it was just as ignorant but because he looks as ignorant as the song sounds people accepted it. Rozay is suppossed to be a bawse business man. The people are going to hold him to a higher standard and not just expect any old ignorant lyrics to be said and its ok. Reebock still shouldn’t take him back cause that’s not teaching anything. The lesson was ignorance will cause you to miss paper at the end of the day. Maybe now he’ll sit in the studio and try a little harder on the next song.
I totally agree, if he really meant it he wouldn’t have lost his deal. Reebok gave him ample time to make this statement and he didn’t. #TakeResponsibility
Sincere or not he apologized. People make mistakes and say bad things. And people ask us to forgive them, and who are we not to forgive. We are a strange nation. we have freedom of speech, but when someone says something against our alleged moral code its wrong. But no one boycotts the adult industry that depicts women being raped for fetish. Its like make up your mind freedom of speech or not.
Wow, I can’t believe ppl are saying we’re defending him, he made a f’n mistake, don’t we all, or are yall’s lives perfect?!?!
I agree with you cruise. I sorry ain’t real if it isn’t coming from the heart. This sorry came from getting in trouble. People have a right to voice how they feel against wrong actions. I hate when people want to defend or stand up for people in the public eye when they’ve done wrong and have something smart to say against a person that is holding someone accountable for their wrong behavior. This is the fallout for what he did, let him feel the sting. His behavior earned it. Now, maybe in time he’ll get some act right because he got to feel the backlash.
