[WATCH] Amber Rose Says C-Section Was Terrifying, ‘I Tried Everything…I Just Want My Baby’
We may have been so focused on their extracurricular activities and choices of baby clothing, that we missed the fact that Amber Rose takes birth and motherhood very seriously. Before the birth of her now one-month old son Sebastian, the 29 year-old model took the time to watch the natural child birth documentary, The Business of Being Born.
Produced by daytime TV show icon Ricki Lake, the film prompted Amber and her 25 year-old fiancé rapper Wiz Khalifa, to have a natural, at home water birth. Amber sat down with the TV host to discuss how those plans quickly changed and enduring a complicated birth:
On Finding Out That She Could Have A Breech Birth:
“When I found out really, really late that my son was breech – it was almost 38 weeks into my pregnancy. So I just had to switch it. My ideal birth plan just went down the drain.”
On Getting Prepared For Her Unexpected C-Section:
“It literally took me the whole time to prepare myself for a water birth that in an instant I was gonna get my abdomen cut open and major surgery. I’ve never had surgery before so I was really, really scared.”
On Her Painful Birth Process:
“My last resort was an inversion, which is when you go to the hospital and they manually try to turn your baby they push his head down and push his butt up. It hurt a lot. It was very painful, I cried. At that point after I tried everything, I was like ‘I just want my baby.’ If I have to have a C –section – fine. I told Wiz if we go to the hospital and my baby turns around, I’m going back home.”

Wow…..no experience is the exact same.
I understand her disappointment. I was able to have both of mine vaginally, but had to have interventions as well. As long as the baby arrives healthy, it’s all good!
