[WATCH] Irv Gotti Opens Up About His Relationship With Ashanti: Denies Having Sex With Her, Says He’ll Never Work With Her Again
The promo continues with Ja Rule and Irv Gotti. This week, the leaders of the once popular Murda Inc., chatted with Power 105’s The Breakfast Club. Unlike their previous interview with Hot 97, the two discuss what ruined their relationship with Jay Z (during his infamous Nas battle), the real extent of Irv Gotti’s relationship with Ashanti (and if Nelly Influenced her to leave the label) and years later, how they feel about Karrine Steffans’ book. Peep a few excerpts.
On what ruined his relationship with Jay Z:
Irv Gotti: In hindsight, I love jungle but I should’ve never did that. I want legendary. I want that more than the bread.I wanna do great, great things. Nas is my brother. i would’ve shed blood with these guys. But me and Jay is…I’ve know Jay since’ 87. I should’ve never did that. It worked out great for Nas. It tarnished me and Jay’s relationship a lot. It’s nothing I could say; he’s right. I was 100% wrong. It was a mistake that I made. I’m stupid and crazy. Confirmed.
On if they did lots of Ecstasy:
Irv Gotti: Ecstasy was good. We made all those records you love. We was very high.
On Ja Rule’s wife sticking with him throughout the height of his career and jail:
Ja Rule: I didn’t make it easy on her. Y’all women have a unique skill knowing this is the man you want, but maybe this is not the man you want him to be right now…I can’t say that I was 100% bad to my wife. I wasn’t there for a lot of things….The rumors and things like that? Terrible. But as far as me being a good man a good husband a good father…We can kinda take out the good husband. I wasn’t a great husband but I was a good husband.
On how they feel about Karriene Steffan’s (formerly Superhead) book:
Irv Gotti: You know what flabbergasted me about Superhead? When she was Oprah.Ja Rule: She recently recounted some of the things that she said.
On if Irv had sex with Ashanti when she was in Murda Inc.
Irv: Yo, you guys is hitting with bombs. Here’s the real, me and Ashanti have a unique and special bond. we made great music together. No, we didn’t have sex. I never slept with Ashanti. Let me tell you about our relationship. Listen, we at Murda Inc. is like a family…What happened when I fell upon hard times…certain people bailed. She bailed. I’m a cancer. We love hard and we hate hard….I don’t care what I’m going thru. Like ride with me. Still ride. She didn’t wanna be a part of Murda Inc. no more. She’s this princess that I created and the ‘murder’ wasn’t good for the image anymore.
On if Nelly influenced Ashanti’s decision to leave Murda Inc.:
Listen. I have nothing against Nelly. I like Nelly. He’s done nothing wrong. Big ups to Nelly. He’s a good guy. Even then.
On if they’d work with Ashanti again:
Irv Gotta: Here’s the thing. Yes, I could help her. But what does it mean to help her? Would she help me? I don’t really move like that. Don’t come around asking me for a record then.Ja Rule: We were a family….Some brothers and sisters have fights. Me and Shanti had our thing when we went through something. She wrote me while I was in prison. Her and Gotti wen thru something a lil different. With me, I don’t even like to talk about these situations. It brings up these dark moments.
