[WATCH] Kandi Burruss Says Fiance Will Sign Prenup, Confirms BRAVO Working on Wedding Special
Kandi Burruss is an entrepreneur in her own right. In addition to singer/songwriting credit, since casted on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, she’s opened boutiques with multiple locations, an adult sex toy line and even began to dabble in production. This week, the 37-year-old visited Hot 97’s morning show, chatting about her business hustle, along with her wedding plans with fiancé Todd Tucker, which have come to a hault, at least this season of the show. She also gives listeners insight on her prenup situation and the skinny on just how reality TV stars are making per episode. Peep the excerpts below.
Well it’s not going to be on the Housewives’. They’re talking to us about doing it as a special.
I’m not against it. As long as the prenup is in place, which we haven’t finished doing that part yet. Then I don’t really care if we did it big or if we just do something small and simple.
It’s an insurance policy. You know, you only pull it out if a disaster happens. So when people get mad and upset, they don’t think as clearly as when they did when they were all in love. So sometimes people do things when they’re hurt, they want to hurt you, or you want to hurt them. So you know, we want to avoid all that and hopefully we don’t even have to use it.
For a new reality show, they’re not making anything. If they are getting anything, it may be like $2,500 an episode to $5,000 at the most. At most times, say for instance the women who started out on our show, they didn’t get anything for their first year. They got like $5,000 for the while season just for the use of their house. When I first came on, they didn’t really hardly pay me anything either. A lot of those shows do not pay a lot of money. And that’s what I say to people. Don’t go on the show thinking you’re going to make a big lick off of the salary.
Think more so about…it’s your informercial. How are you going to make this show sell your business, your product or whatever. (If you don’t have a business) then the only thing you’re to do is just make money off the appearances. You see these celebrities doing appearances at clubs. You can [get] a grip off that. The first year of the show, I think I made $200,000 within a month or month in a half. If you’re going to go on a reality show, go into with a purpose. Have a business. Don’t just be happy to be famous. Go in there with your plan already put together.
