Beyoncé Releases Official ‘Partition’ Video

If you are a Beyoncé fan or stan, chances are you’ve watched the ‘Partition‘ video already. But for those of you that are a bit behind the musical curve bar, the super star has officially released the video online. As the lyrics suggest, Mrs. Carter is serving all types of sexual skin for her husband.

While she’s very confident in the video and its content, the Destiny’s Child lead says she was a bit bashful about the track:

I was so embarrassed after I recorded the song, ’cause I’m just talking sh*t. I’m like ‘I can’t play this for my husband.’ I still haven’t played it for my mom. She’s going to be very mad at me.

She added:

I was very aware of the fact that I was showing my body. I was 195 pounds when I gave birth. I lost 65 pounds. I worked crazily to get my body back. I wanted to show my body. I wanted to show that you can have a child, and you can work hard, and you can get your body back.

‘Partition’ is  included on her self-titled fifth studio album, released on December 13, 2013. Described by Beyoncé as a “visual album”, the record consists of fourteen tracks, each having an accompanying music video. Musically, the album explores electro-R&B and pop elements, combining minimalist production, loose song structure and emotive vocals. Beyoncé revisits her common theme of self-empowerment, but takes on much darker themes previously unexplored in her music, such as postnatal depression, insecurities of womanhood and frank, often explicit, discussion of sex.
