[EXCLUSIVE] Bobby Brown Continues Fight With Enquirer: I Didn’t Plan to Re-Marry Whitney Houston!
The outlet reported that Brown told friends he believed that he could have prevented her death, that he broke up with his then fiancée (Alicia Etheridge) because he wanted to get back with Houston. It also stated that the singer claimed Etheridge understood Houston was the love of Brown’s life and understood him breaking up with her. Brown and his fiancée claimed all the statements were lies and they claimed the magazine knew the statements were false before publishing.
So what’s the latest? Recently, the magazine fired back at the lawsuit, in which they admit they NEVER spoke to Brown about the information they published. However, they deny they did anything wrong and shot down Brown’s accusations they knew the information was lies.
The magazine even says the “statements of fact concerning the Plaintiff are true or substantially true”, thus the lawsuit is completely ill found.
They explain that their article, “constitute privileged fair comment or reports on matters of public interest and concern.” They continue noting that Brown has NO proof that they published the article knowing the info was wrong, which they claim it isn’t inaccurate.
The National Enquirer continues that Brown wasn’t damaged by the article and is not owed damages for them running their story. They are asking the legal action be dismissed entirely.
