Will Packer & Partner Rob Hardy Call It Quits, Ends Rainforest Films
personally and professionally. Our respective personal careers have taken us in different directions and we have decided it is necessary to dissolve Rainforest Films.
In a recent interview with theJasmineBRAND.com, Will shared that his reason for entering the film industry was because of his friendship with Rob:
For me, entrepreneurship is what drove me and that’s really what made me want to work for myself and be my own boss and I kind of stumbled into film because I went to college, majored in engineering and met a guy who wanted to be a filmmaker. He knew ‘I want to be a director, I want to be the next Spike Lee, I want to be the next John Singleton’. So for me, I helped him do that. I helped him find talent, I helped him find financing, I helped him find distribution, that’s what a producer does. So once we were successful with that film, then I branched out and did it again and again and I realized this was my entrepreneurial endeavor because I knew I wanted to be a boss, I knew I wanted to be in charge.
In fact, the two began their work together in 2000 with the film, Trois. The duo went on to produce 17 more features.
No word on what ended their relationship. Recently, news broke that a lawsuit filed Friday against Rainforest Films by Bernard Brothers president and CEO Bernard Bronner. EUR Web reports the businessman is suing Will along with Rob and TRF Productions, LLC for inter alia, breaches of fiduciary duty, gross mismanagement, misappropriation of corporate assets, waste of corporate assets and abuse of control.
