Singer Tank Vents After Losing BET Award to Young Money: They Aren’t Even A Group!
Singer Tank (real name Durrell Babbs) is none too pleased after what he considers a snub by BET. TGT (Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank) were nominated by the BET Awards for ‘Best Group’. Also nominated were A$AP Mob, Daft Punk, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Young Money. The group was beat out by Lil Wayne’s group, Young Money.
After loosing, Tank took to Twitter expressing his frustration. In a string of tweets, he wrote:
Im never defined by an award! Only the truth!.. A group that wasn’t even a group won tonight!..lol. Hypocrisy! @BETAwards

He wasn’t a sore loser.They should’ve not been grouped together.This was the Bet Awards,this was not the Bet Hip Hop Awards.They aren’t that new,neither is Young Money.He’s right they’re not a group.Tank and his group should’ve been in an RnB catagorie.I think that the wrong people are making these categories.They know nothing about the types of music that we’re listening to,they think everything is Hip Hop and its not.TGT is definitely RnB

Tank is entitled to feel what he feels I agree wholeheartedly with what he said Cashmoney is a LABEL not a group.
Last time I checked they were HIP HOP and Not R&B Cashmoney Isn’t even in the same genre let alone the same level as TGT who have been Snubbed 3 Times for awards they truly deserve.

Cash Money is a record label and it is not a group nor was it nominated for the group award, Young Money was and Young Money is actually a group who in fact recently released their second album (We Are Young Money-2009 and Rise of an Empire-2014). I do not think Tank is a sore loser however, I think he may be confused by Young Money being made up of so many members. As far as the category and the groups that were nominated, it did not matter if it was R&B or Rap because the category was Best Group. If we want to take the road of separating the Best Group category for Rap and R&B and if we want to make the BET Awards all about Black music, we need to exclude Iggy, Macklemore, and all other caucasians who were nominated for BET Awards. It’s called the BET Awards not the R&B Awards, not the Rap/Hip-Hop Awards, not any specific category awards. It includes all categories of music that are relevant to the culture of our people. BET did not see fit to separate the group award and it may be something that people who do not agree with Young Money winning can bring up to BET. There is nothing wrong with a Best R&B Group Award. The issue is there are NOT enough R&B groups for a category like it was in the 90s. We barely have R&B singers this day and age, almost everyone fall into the Pop category if they are not Rappers. R&B singers are almost a dying breed because there is a hand full of real singers still alive. These new artists aren’t real singers and do not know what real music is because these kids are too easy to please these days.
