[EXCLUSIVE] Drake Sues Jeweler – I Paid You 40k A Month, I OWN Your Work!
theJasmineBRAND.com has learned exclusively that according to docs filed, the 27-year-old artist states that he hired Baden Baden back in 2012 to create various designs for his company OVO (October’s Very Own). The deal was Drake would pay the designer $39,583 a month for his work but Drake would own the rights to all the work.
Drake explains that if he knew the company would later try to assert ownerships of the designs he would not have entered into a deal–especially one that paid them substantial compensation for their work.
The rapper states he received the Owl pendant in Dec 2012 and has now found out that Baden Baden then went to get it copyrighted the next month. Drake says this happened despite the fact that the company was well aware this was not an original design and is a copy of the ancient Egyptian hieroglyph.
Drake sued asking the court to agree the copyright is void and to not allow them to continue saying they have a valid copyright, but if the court doesn’t agree to then order that OVO owns the design anyways per their deal. Read the court documents.
