[INTERVIEW] Essence Magazine’s Mikki Taylor Says Her Faith Steered Her In The Right Direction

Mikki Taylor: I think that they really have to engage the reader more. They certainly have to anticipate the conversation that she wants to have. Because she has so many options. For Essence being that good girlfriend, the one that people always want to know what you have to say. That’s a big change, and that’s a good change.

theJasmineBRAND: When did you know it was time for you to take the role you have now, how did you know?

Mikki Taylor: The creator. You have been put here unto a purpose, and the Bible says “he that has begun a good work in you will perform it till the end.” So if you listen, he’ll give you the signal. I got more for you to do, ok it’s time for you to do this and that, because I think higher than you, more abundantly and so forth than you do, you gotta listen.

theJasmineBRAND: If you had to ask God one question, and he had to answer what would you ask him?

Mikki Taylor: [Laughs] I don’t know. He just amazes me so. I remember one day in the year actually that I stepped into my new beginning, I said to him “I don’t know what you’re doing, but I love you for it.”
