[Pink Slip Problems] Ray Rice Loses Ravens Contract, After Disturbing Video Leaked
According to the LA Times, the NFL followed suit and suspended Rice indefinitely. The league’s spokesperson Brian McCarthy said in a statement released today,
We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today.
Initially, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Rice for the entire preseason and two regular season games. He was scheduled to rejoin the team on Friday. Last month, the NFL introduced new domestic violence penalties and any player involved in future domestic violence cases would be subject to a six-game suspension (without pay) for first offenders and repeat offenders a lifetime ban but would be able to apply for reinstatement after one year.
