Chicago Bulls Player Jaden Ivey Waived After Calling NBA’s Pride Celebration ‘Unrighteousness’
Backlash intensified after Jaden Ivey called the NBA’s Pride Month celebrations “unrighteousness,” and now the Chicago Bulls have officially waived him following the controversy.
During a social media rant, Ivey stated, “The world proclaims LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month and the NBA does too. They show it to the world. They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.’ ” His comments quickly sparked criticism, with the league maintaining its stance on inclusivity.
According to reports, including Shams Charania, the Bulls waived Ivey after a series of anti-LGBTQ remarks and religious posts. The move follows earlier reporting from the Chicago Sun-Times that the organization was already working on an exit strategy.
Ivey had only played four games after being acquired from the Detroit Pistons in a deal involving Kevin Huerter before being sidelined with knee issues.
Now, Chicago has officially moved on.
