Adrian Peterson Indicted On Child Abuse, NFL’er Says He Spanked His Son With A Switch

The charged conduct involves using a switch to spank his son. This indictment follows Adrian’s full cooperation with authorities who have been looking into this matter. Adrian is a loving father who used his judgement as a parent to discipline his son. He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in East Texas. Adrian has never hidden from what happened. He has cooperated fully with authorities and voluntarily testified before the grand jury for several hours. Adrian will address the charges with the same respect and responsiveness he has brought to this inquiry from its beginning. It is important to remember that Adrian never intended to harm his son and deeply regrets the unintentional injury.

Peterson posted the following message on Twitter:

According to ESPN, Peterson has cooperated fully with authorities and voluntarily testified before the grand jury for several hours. In an interview with Houston police, Peterson told them he only used “whoopings” or “spankings” as a last resort and tells his children,

Anytime I spank my kids, I talk to them before, let them know what they did, and of course after.

Peterson also expressed regret that his son did not cry – because then, Peterson said, he would have known that the switch was doing more damage than intended. He didn’t realize the “tip of the switch and the ridges of the switch were wrapping around [the child’s] legs.” Peterson also acknowledged that this was administered directly to the child’s skin and with the child’s pants pulled down. Peterson later told police that the marks on his son’s buttocks were similar to the marks any of his other children get when he “spanks them with a switch“.

Last October, Peterson’s 2-year-old son died in Sioux Falls, after being allegedly assaulted by a man who was dating the boy’s mother. Peterson learned only two months earlier that he was the boy’s father. The man who assaulted the boy, Joseph Robert Patterson, was charged with murder and manslaughter. [ESPN, TMZ

I’m sorry folks but you’d better stand back for a rant that’s about to pop out of my deepest anger spot… a 6′ 2′ – 250lb NFL “ASSHOLE'” beat his 4 year old kid with a “switch”…. takeS a real big f@&king man to do that doesn’t it!!!!! I know that many of you grew up getting beaten with a switch and think it’s just fine… but I’ll say the same thing to you that I say every time this subject comes up… your parents were stupid and lazy, and if that’s the excuse you use for hitting your kid, then you’re just stupid dumb ass too. I grew up getting hit with coat hangers, belts, “the switch” that we had to go cut for our own punishment, mop handles, extension cords, or whatever was handy. So did both of my brothers and many of my closest relatives… because that’s the way they were raised… “and I turned out ok, right”… that’s what they all say. Lazy parenting should be a crime!!!! For whatever reason, you have been chosen to be given a brand new soul to nurture and love into this sometimes very messed up world and if you can’t think of any other way to show your child right from wrong than to hit that child, then there is something really wrong with you. Ask yourself this one question…. and I bet I know the answer… “What if some stranger took a belt of stick or coat hanger to your two year old?” You’d call the cops or beat the crap out of them. So why the hell would you do that to the little fresh soul you’ve been blessed with…?!?!?! This big ass NFL asshole needs to be jailed and his child removed from him if he cannot find some other way to punish/guide his child if he did something wrong. By the way, what the little 4 year old did was push another kid away from playing with his game. Oh that really deserves a “BEAT DOWN” doesn’t it!!!!! Pardon me, but FUCK THAT ASSHOLE!!!!!

I think you need a good whoopin too GPHooker! Look at all that profanity. Your parents were too lazy to get their hands dirty and whoop your ass when you needed it? Well I’m a man! I’m 40!

Thanks gphooker for the much needed voice of sanity! To JDD, I believe that if you look at all the high school drop outs & gang bangers, You’ll see that ALL of them were beaten by their loser parents! I use the term parent loosely…that is if they hung around long enough to be more than a sperm donor!

He was a little heavy handed but I don’t find anything wrong with what he did. My parents corrected me with spankings and I am a citizen in great standing – no arrests, no assaults, no criminal activity, a well paying job, a loving family. I thank them every day for what they did for me. Timeouts are crap! Lack of discipline and a firm hand is crap! Spank your child when they do something wrong! All of these people that don’t believe in spankings are idiots in my book. I bet if you look at the teenagers that killed others in these school incidents, they’d find out that “NONE” of their parents disciplined them with a firm hand.
