(EXCLUSIVE) Mary J. Blige Awarded $105K In Battle With Promoter
Blige didn’t take too kindly to the lawsuit and slapped the promotion company with a counter-suit accusing them of breaching the deal … and that’s why she pulled out.
She claimed that the company failed to follow the provisions in the deal regarding first class airfare for her and her crew. She said due to their breach she didn’t make the performance and said she wasn’t giving a dime back and even demanded they pay her the remaining $105K due on the contract despite her no show.
Then on October 17th, the federal court judge came back with his decision and sided with Blige. He states in the court order that Blige had every intention of showing up to the concert — evident in emails that were presented as evidence in the case and thus she did NOT breach her contract. The judge says that the promotion company clearly did not provide Blige with her airfare in a reasonable time before the concert. Further, the judge says that Blige is correct that she is owed the remaining amount due on the contract — due to the company breaching the deal. He then ordered the company pay Blige the $105k she is owed. The case was closed the same day.
