Lifetime Releases Whitney Houston Biopic Trailer, Did They Nail It? [VIDEO]

When the iconic voice and star Whitney Houston passed away in 2012, many fans were still left with many questions surrounding her life and her tragic death. Lifetime, along with director Angela Bassett, hope to answer some of those questions in the Whitney Houston biopic titled Whitney. The movie, premiering on Lifetime on January 17, stars Yaya DaCosta (America’s Next Top Model, The Butler) as Whitney Houston.

The made-for-TV movie will chronicle the life of Whitney until her untimely death — from singing in the church choir in Houston’s hometown of Newark, New Jersey to her infamous (and often seen as destructive) relationship with Bobby Brown (played by Arlen Escarpeta). Lifetime is not holding back on the details surrounding her life–even her struggle with addiction.

To my understanding the family wasn’t involved in this. How do you make a movie without information from the family? Well, we shall see.

I don’t understand why people feel the need to tell someone else’s life story. The family didn’t want this movie to be made so they didn’t provide any information about Whitney for this movie how do you tell someones story when you don’t really know their story.Out of respect for the family this movie should have never been made it’s not Lifetime or Angela Bassett’s story to tell just because someone was famous doesn’t give you the right to speculate on what really went on in their life and make a movie on what you have heard went on because without Whitney, Bobby, or any other members of the family contributing FACTS then this is just a bunch of hearsay and rumors made into a movie. I feel it’s so disrespectful and distasteful. I feel the same way about the Aaliyah movie. This is my opinion everyone is entitled to one
