Anthony Anderson Prayed & Hoped For ‘Black-ish’ Success: We were telling truthful stories. [INTERVIEW]
Anderson said he knew the show would be successful.
You know, we were telling truthful stories. Everything that you see on the small screen, everything that you see every week, comes from our lives.
Throughout the season, viewers get to see the average TV family’s obstacles, including Dre’s many life lessons in history, money management and responsibility for the kids and a couple’s comedic attempts to spice up their love life.
Anderson said “Black-ish” fills a gap in today’s television viewing.
We sat down, my partner and I, Kenya Barris and you know, thought about what was missing from television for us as a community and just us as artists, and he created our show, “Black-ish,” based on our experiences and our conversations. We are elated that the personal stories we are telling are resonating with the people across the board — white, black, brown, you name it, because we all go through that.
