Toya Wright Says Being Labeled ‘Woman Beater’, Took Toll on Marriage to Memphitz
Toya Wright has made it crystal clear — she’s going to fight for her marriage to producer Memphitz (real name Mickey Wright). While their split was announced late last year, Toya has been vocal about the fact that she does not want a divorce and wants to work through their issues.
The same sentiments were expressed during Toya’s (who was previously married to Lil Wayne) recent interview with Necole Bitchie. Toya confirms that she is indeed ‘separated’ and reveals that being accused of being ‘a woman beater’ took it’s toll on Memphitz’s health and career
Check out the highlights below:
On being separated:
The current status of me and my husband [is] we are separated at the moment. And, we’re just- everybody has their martial issues. And right now, you know, we’re separated.
I mean, what is going on with my husband, like I said when I spoke on it, is it’s bigger than me. I LOVE TOYA! She is representing what it means to be a wife “for better or for worse”. I pray that everything will work out for them. I pray that Memphitz can restore his name and get back to work. I can see how that can take a toll on his career and they marriage. At lot of times people will continue to throw your past in your face not realizing that was your past. But I love how she is willing and committed to hang in there with her husband. I already liked her but after reading this it has made me like her even more. I have been married for 21yrs and not all of them where good yrs but we hung in there and made the best of it and after we got through the bad yrs we have had nothing but good yrs since we made it over the hump. #teamtoyaandmemphitz #hopetheycanworkitout #godblessthisunion
