[Exclusive Interview] Tami Roman Explains Why She’s Returned to ‘Basketball Wives LA’

Fans of Tami Roman were thrilled to learn that she was taking her talents back to the Basketball Wives franchise. Although she began her reality TV stint on MTV’s Real World, most of us were introduced to her as one of the more entertaining and outspoken cast members of Basketball Wives (Miami). And while that show closed it’s doors, Tami is returning to Basketball Wives LA, alongside the show’s executive producer Shaunie O’Neal.

In an exclusive interview with theJasmineBRAND.com, Tami explains why she decided to return to the show; how her family feels about it and what fans can expect from her.

theJasmineBRAND.com: Congratulations on your return to reality TV. You’ve decided to return to the spin-off Basketball Wives LA. How did that opportunity present itself?

Tami Roman: I’m always in LA working, so Shaunie asked me to come and meet the ladies.

theJasmineBRAND.com: During our last interview, we asked you if the opportunity presented itself, would you do Basketball Wives LA. You responded, 

I think L.A. is going good. I don’t think they really need me in their situation. I don’t want to catch no cases. You can change but the inner workings of you sometimes–people can push those things. I think they are good the way they are. What made you change your mind?

Tami Roman: Clearly things weren’t as good as I thought, so I was inserted to meet the ladies and bring my straight to the point personality to the group.

theJasmineBRAND.com: How does your family and boyfriend feel about you returning to the show?

Tami Roman: My inner circle knows that I am an actress and I love the type of work that I do. They don’t stifle opportunities, but are alternatively very supportive. Even though reality TV doesn’t involve acting per se (at least not on our show), it’s still an outlet of visibility. After all, you can’t be a TV star if you’re not on TV.

theJasmineBRAND.com: Can you define your role on the show? Are you an official cast
member or someone that appears on a few episodes?  

Tami Roman: I appear as a special guest for a few episodes. I am not an official cast member of Basketball Wives LA.

theJasmineBRAND.com: I noticed that Shaunie O’Neal has returned as well. How is it
filming and working with Shaunie again?

Tami Roman:It’s always cool filming with Shaunie, she is a very maternal spirit. She wants everyone to do well, get along, keep the peace. In this case, she is the yin to my yang.

theJasmineBRAND.com: Is there any reason Evelyn Lozada decided not to return?

Tami Roman: Evelyn has a beautiful baby boy and a new relationship. I am sure that is where her focus is at this time. That’s not to say she won’t return to TV at some point, as I’m sure her fans miss her.
