If there’s one thing that Janet Jackson knows how to do is stay in hiding. And by that, we mean completely stay out of the public’s view and live her life privately and quietly. And that’s what the musical icon has been doing — or at least so we thought.

It turns out that the 49-year-old (who celebrated her birthday on Saturday) was in the kitchen cooking up some new music for her fans. On Friday, Janet (who reportedly resides in Qatar with her husband), announced that she was releasing a new album in 2015.
