Serena Williams Posts Heartfelt Message After Beating Big Sister Venus
At the press conference, Venus stated:
It was just about the breaks. We were both hitting off the ground so well. We’ve played a lot of years and we’ve tried to be entertaining. At some point we won’t be playing forever, but clearly we’re still playing at a high level. When that moment’s over it will be over. But it’s not now.
Serena told BBC after the match:
It’s hard to feel excited. It’s never easy to play someone that you love and care about. She’s my best friend in the world. I just had to stay focused.
She added:
It definitely doesn’t get easier. I was thinking that I am 33 and she just turned 35. I plan on playing for years, but you never know, so I just took that moment in. It was kind of surreal for a moment there. It was really good for me to get it done in straight sets and put this behind me.
