(EXCLUSIVE) Rick Ross Demands Criminal Record NOT Be Revealed to Jury in Legal Battle w/ LMFAO
LMFAO – consisting of Redfoo and Sky Blu — fired back at the rapper blasting the dangerous lifestyle he promotes to his audience. They explain that their music is about partying and having a good time. They stated that this is very different than the message of selling cocaine, “energetically and aggressively and making strenuous efforts to obtain money in the drug trade business.” They demanded Ross’ lawsuit be dismissed and he awarded nothing.
On September 17th, Ross filed docs in the case demanding certain information be excluded from the courtroom. The rapper explains that his legal battle with Freeway Ricky Ross over his rap name NOT be spoken to the jury. He says that the lawsuit ended in his favor but regardless LMFAO is planning on bringing it up in the courtroom. Ross says that this is irrelevant and the only reason they want to talk about it is to make the trial about him personally instead of the allegedly infringing song.
Further, the rapper says that he wants the judge to band LMFAO from providing testimony or argument that references to drug dealing in his song “Hustlin” or any other suggestions that he is a criminal or engaged in criminal activity. He says these topics have NOTHING to do with the issues at hand.
Ross also mentions that he doesn’t want the band to be allowed to mention his record sales actually going up following the release of LMFAO’s song — he says there is way to prove the correlation. The judge has yet to make a ruling on Ross’ motion.
