Solange, Questlove, Estelle, Lenny Kravitz & More Celebs Remember Maurice White
Earth, Wind & Fire founder Maurice White died Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles. The news was confirmed by his brother Verdine White.
White, who was 74, suffered from Parkinson’s Disease and had retreated from the public even as the band he founded kept performing.
Verdine told the Associated Press,
My brother, hero and best friend Maurice White passed away peacefully last night in his sleep. While the world has lost another great musician and legend, our family asks that our privacy is respected as we start what will be a very difficult and life changing transition in our lives. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes.

Maurice White. I listened to you ever single day at my mothers hair salon, & I didn’t understand what you made me feel, but you were a hero.

Maurice:
You have been my man crush and lifelong everyday crush for my entire life. For years you mesmerized me with your swagger and hip swaying on stage. EWF remains my all time favorite group. I was smitten back then, and you were my “imaginary husband. Within you, I learned what a real man is made of, and you set the standard for me. Although I never got to meet you, I want you to know today that I will always feel a connection to you, and I will always love you… R.I.P. Mr. White!
Your music was the background to my life.Just about every song gave me that feeling joy.Thank You!Bless your journey to glory.
