Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Founder of Harlem Charter School
He wears a plethora of hats and now he’s adding even more to his growing empire. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs newest gig is the founder of a charter school in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood, according to the Associated Press.
On Monday, the 46-year-old producer, business man, actor and designer announced that new school, called the Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School will open in the fall. The school will be overseen by Capital Prep leader Steve Perry, who founded Capital Prep Magnet School in Hartford, Connecticut, in 2005.
Combs and the board have hired Orlando, Florida-based educator Danita Jones as the principal of Capital Prep Harlem.
Combs says creating the school is “a dream come true.”
Combs was born in Harlem and grew up in Mount Vernon, New York. He attended Howard University before dropping out. In 2014, Combs gave the commencement speech and also received earned an honorary degree.
