Queen Latifah & Jada Pinkett Smith To Star In ‘Girl Trip’
Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett-Smith are near deals to star in Universal Pictures’ film, ‘Girl Trip’ — according to Deadline.
Regina Hall has also been cast. The film will be directed by Malcolm Lee, with Will Packer as producer and scripted by Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver. According to the site,
the film focuses on four friends who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, where sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, with some drinking, romancing and even brawling thrown in for good measure.
While Latifah and Pinkett-Smith have worked together on numerous projects behind-the-scenes, this will be the first time that they work together on screen since the 1996 film, Set It Off. Set It Off was directed by F. Gary Gray and starred Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox and Kimberly Elise (in her theatrical acting debut). Girl Trip will hit theaters July 21, 2017.
