Taye Diggs Snags Recurring Role On ‘Empire’
Empire has added another cast member to its growing star-studded roster. Taye Diggs has snagged a major recurring role for Fox’s hit show. According to multiple reports,
He will first appear in the Fox drama’s Sept. 21 Season 3 premiere as Angelo Dubois, a city councilman hailing from a respected and affluent New York family. With his pedigree and a Harvard law diploma, Diggs’ Angelo could have made a fortune in the private sector. Instead, he is ruled by his sense of noblesse oblige, and focuses his energies on community organizing and local politics, inviting comparisons to Barack Obama.
Diggs is best known for his roles in the Broadway musicals “Rent” and “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”, the TV series “Private Practice”, the film “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” and the film “The Best Man” and its sequel “The Best Man Holiday”. Since 2014 he has starred as Inspector Terry English in “Murder in the First.”
