There’s a perfectly good explanation as to why Frank Ocean’s album -“Boys Don’t Cry”- has been delayed. During a Reddit interview, Ocean’s producer Malay gave some insight as to what’s holding the project up. On the forum he was asked by a fan about the delay. And to this, Malay responded,

First of all we all massively appreciate and love you guys, Frank has told me this himself many times. To be fair tho, art cannot be rushed. It’s about making sure the perfect aesthetic for the situation has been reached, to do that, takes constant tweaking, trial and error.. That goes for any creative sitution [sic].

Ocean embarked on his musical career as a ghostwriter for several prominent artists, including John Legend, Justin Bieber and Brandy. In 2010, he became a member of Odd Future. Ocean subsequently released his breakout mixtape, “Nostalgia Ultra”, to critical acclaim in 2011. The singles, “Novacane” and “Swim Good”, both achieved chart success. In 2012, Ocean finished in second place in BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll. His debut studio album, “Channel Orange”, was released in July 2012 to critical acclaim and was promoted with three charting singles: “Thinkin Bout You”, “Pyramids” and “Sweet Life”. Ocean’s music has been characterized by music writers as idiosyncratic in style. Click here for an app to keep fans posted on exactly when the album is released.
