Bey Wins in Court, Judge Tosses ‘Lemonade’ Lawsuit Out
Beyonce took a W in court this week. On Thursday, a judge in New York tossed out claims that the trailer accompanying Beyonce’s visual album “Lemonade” used ideas from a man’s short film. Federal Judge Jed Rakoff threw out Matthew Fulks’ copyright infringement lawsuit. In June, the Louisville filmmaker filed the lawsuit against Beyonce and the singer’s management company, Parkwood Entertainment, along with Sony Music Entertainment and Columbia Recording Corp.
Fulks said the producers of Beyonce’s “Lemonade” copied parts of his 2014 short film, “Palinoia.” The lawsuit alleged “Lemonade” was produced months after a senior vice president at Columbia had been sent a link to his film.
