Chrisette Michele’s Fiancé Throws Surprise Engagement Party! [Photos]

On Labor Day, in New York City Chrisette Michele’s fiancé Douglas Ellison surprised her with a ALL WHITE Labor Day engagement party that he called the #BecomingMrsEllison Party. The couple had been flying for three days from show to show and working on the “Love Jones “play rehearsals in Oklahoma City. As they arrived to the location, Chrisette walked into the courtyard and heard “SURPRIIIIIIISE!!!” , from every voice that she knew and loved.

Myx Moscato sponsored the event, while Jenelli (wife of the late rapper Chinx) was the incredible chef for the evening. Chrisette said of her surprise engagement party:

I don’t get to see my loves often as I’m always traveling. My man knew how important it was to pull together 200 of my dearest and closest. Word has it that he had Sheena (my publicist), Queen (friend), Eric (Doug’s assistant) and Shenelle (my best friend) flown in to set up before I arrived. When I tell you, I am so in love and happy and grateful and honored to be so loved, it’s no exaggeration. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come and celebrate true UNBREAKABLE love with me and the man that I adore. “
