Did Tamar Braxton's Departure On 'The Real' Cause Ratings Drop?

Has Tamar Braxton’s departure negatively affected the ratings of The Real daytime talk show? According to Global Grind, since the singer and reality TV star was fired after last season, the ratings have struggled. The site reports:

“Tamartians,” aka Tamar fans, have been slamming the show, calling it boring after ratings took a serious hit following the singer’s departure. According to reports, the talk show could be facing cancellation in the wake of Braxton’s firing. The third season of The Real debuted on FOX last month, making it the first to air without Braxton on the hosting panel.

Did Tamar Braxton's Departure On 'The Real' Cause Ratings Drop?

Ratings dropped significantly, with a 22 percent decrease in viewers compared to the Season 2 premiere in 2015. Broadcasting Cable suggested that The Real could potentially be in danger of cancellation unless ratings improve, revealing that the 22 percent decrease in ratings “showed the largest declines of any talkers that haven’t already been canceled.”

P.S. Is Tamar’s departure to blame for the ratings decline? Or are there other elements of the show that need to be improved?

I’ve notice that since Tamar has left, Adreinne has tried to be the leader/main host. It makes me think maybe that BI was right about her trying to push out the rest of the co-host so that she could have her own show. Either way the show is not the same without Tamar it missing that punch that she brought.

Tamar was the only reason I watched The Real but now I don’t watch the show because it’s not the same. Why ruin a good thing? Stupid.

They won’t get her back either. I hope heads role. I ain’t a Tamar fan but how they did her is wrong. Same with Kelly Rippa. They don’t treat men like that. Js.

The show definitely does not have the spark it had before. It was just that Tamar bought an uncanny lively hood to the show the other girls are trying to have…but they just don’t got it! And I could be wrong, but from what I’m observing, Loni is try “really hard,” to put on a smiling face! She needs to work, but I think she doesn’t like what’s happened to her friend either. It’s sad. That was my show! But now, I can take it or leave it. They messed with a good thing.

I have tried to watch the show but when they have girl’s chat I am still waiting for that pop that Tamar always gave in her comments. You can tell that she is missing and the others are trying but it’s not enough

It is just the same without her, but a little less squeaky. I love the girls! The vibe is still good. I look forward to days of working from home!

If you ask me the show was boring period with or without Tamar. I don’t see how the show really lasted this long.

Adreinne is a husband stealer; basically the show is ratchet; shut it off; at least Tamar made you laugh and gave it life; it’s just boring and I am not supporting Adrienne PERIOD!!!!!!

I always found the show boring without Tamar. I don’t think the other girls can pull it off. Also, Adrian’s relationship with Israel lost a lot of viewers too. Black Christians do not play. He was supposed to be a spiritual leader too. Both she and he and going to feel that.

I was never a big Tamar fan. But,Taking her out of the mix wasn’t a great idea. They may be trying to take in a not so black direction.I really believe that Tamar gave it a black vibe and that alienated many white viewers.Im just calling it how I see it.No one is gonna admit that out loud. This is why no answer has be given as to why she was let go.They do this on tv all the time.Theyre probably looking for a white girl that could give a toned down version of Tamar.

You are so right. The powers that be, fired Tamar to mainstream the show thinking it would attract more white viewers. They concluded someone so obviously unapologetically black would turn away white viewers. They must have realized their mistake because the majority of their guest are now minorities. I’ve noticed tv executive have a tendency to mainstream a show that strongly identity with a minority viewership to its ruination. Yes, Tamar was frequently annoying but she was also part of a certain population that is not often represented. I liked the sisterhood of different minorities and personalities now the show has become a little to harmonized to it’s detriment.

They are loosing the demographic audience that made it a hit show because they are clueless and not in touch with what we want. They haven’t yet learned that America can embrace diversity and it does not always have to be tuned down and/or white washed.

I was disgusted with show even when Tamar was there. Her and Lard Loni always seemed to pick on Tamara who is so precious. Seems like Jeannie is trying to be leader now. Sad to say it will probably be canceled
