(EXCLUSIVE) Ludacris Reaches Settlement With Baby Mama, Lawsuit Over Daughter Continues
(EXCLUSIVE) Ludacris Reaches Settlement With Baby Mama
Ludacris has reached a settlement with his baby mama in their nasty legal battle over their daughter. The rapper agreed to pay her a confidential amount of money to cover her legal bills, which she will use to continue battling him in court over custody of their kid.
Here’s the latest: On October 17th, docs were filed in the case following an evidentiary hearing in the matter and the judge granted Tamika’s request for attorney fees. The judge states that he is signing off on a private agreement that Ludacris and his baby mama reached in the issue over attorney fees.
Based on the docs, Ludacris has agreed to pay a portion or all of the legal fees his baby mama has incurred in the case. The amount the rapper has agreed to pay her is sealed and they both agreed to keep it confidential.
The two – who have been battling it out for over a year – filed a joint motion to seal their agreement due to Ludacris’ celebrity and him wanting his financial affairs not revealed to the public.
Here’s the backstory: Back in 2015, Ludacris was awarded primary custody of his daughter with baby mama Tamika Fuller. The two battled it out in court for months accusing each other of being the less fit parent.
Fuller even claimed during the battle that the rapper wanted her to get an abortion and tried throwing 10K at her to get rid of their unborn child. However, the judge reviewed a report by an independent expert who had determined Ludacris was the fitter parent.
The order gave Ludacris full legal custody, giving him the only say when it comes to making important life decisions for their kid. Tamika appealed the custody decision and recently the Appeal court came back and denied her petition to overturn the original judgement.
On July 6th, Ludacris went to court and demanded his baby mama be found in contempt and requested for a restraining order along with sanctions against Tamika.
The rapper explained since the judge came back with his order in early 2015, Tamika has attempted to ignore the order and usurp his custodial rights by making decisions for their minor child, which she has no authority to do. He claimed he has tried to work out the issues but Tamika refused to follow the court order.
Ludacris pointed out that Tamika continuously drops off their kid at daycare on Fridays – when he decided to have private tutoring for their kid on Fridays. He says she keeps disregarding the doctor he choose and going to other physicians, violated the order by taking unscheduled and unannounced visitation time at the daycare even when asked by the staff not to come, leaked private emails to the media for her own publicity and to portray Ludacris in a false, negative light. He adds that she even choose to start a GoFundMe account in an attempt to profit off their child, which was against the court order too.
He accused his baby mama of sending pictures of their kid to gossip sites and even penned an ‘essay’ which was rife with false criticisms of the court and him.
The last straw came when Luda says Tamika contacted the Department of Family and Children Services and filed a false report against him based on their kid having a common rash. He said she was informed by Luda that a doctor had already seen the rash and she was prescribed an ointment.
Luda claimed that on May 19th 2016, the department contacted him and said pursuant to department protocol his parenting time with his kid was suspended. He said his baby mama must be stopped from filing false and malicious reports of child abuse.
He demanded the court order Tamika to follow the original order, find her in contempt of court and sanctioned for her actions along with order her to pay attorney fees and litigation expenses.
Tamika returned to court to respond to the contempt motion filed by Ludacris and responded, accusing the rapper of being the one disregarding the courts order and denying her time with their daughter
She said he has continued to deny her visitation, access to the minor child by phone, parenting time with the minor child while he is out of town and repeatedly disparaged her.
On May 16th, she says she went to pick up her daughter from daycare after she had been dropped off earlier by Ludacris’ employees after spending time with her father.
She immediately noticed very prominent bruises and abrasions on the kids face. The daycare personnel were concerned but said they were told by Luda’s employees he had a “rash” from swimming.
She took the child to emergency care and then to another hospital where a social worker saw the abrasions on the kids face, and told Tamika to take the kid to the police and DFCS and make a report to start an investigation into the rapper.
A temporary safety plan was put in place prohibiting the kid from returning to Ludacris’ home. However, she said he ignored the plan and used his wealth and fame to intimidate the Douglas County DFCS who closed the case based on lack of jurisdiction. She believes that he was never investigated or cooperated with the child services officials, along with no home study being done and eventually their kid was returned back to him.
Tamika attached photos of the alleged abrasions on the daughter’s face which she says indicate possible child abuse by Ludacris or other occupants of his home. Unlike Ludacris, she said she does not have the wealth and fame and must conduct litigation in the normal fashion available to citizens unlike him who is attempting to conduct litigation by ambush.
She said his demands that she be found in contempt are nonsense and she does fear for her child’s safety while she’s staying at Ludacris’ home. Tamika calls the allegations frivolous and wants the judge to sanction him for even filing this motion.
Ludacris responded back, claiming Tamika’s response was clearly designed to read as a press release rather than a motion. He says her allegations relied upon speculation and demonstrably false allegations.
He said not one of her accusations of him using his fame and money to influence the Department of Family and Children’s Services are true and the evidence will prove he’s not lying. Further, he claimed he will present evidence showing she lied to investigators about the terms of their custodial agreement
The rapper explained the investigation by the Department was closed due to no evidence of her claims not because he used his fame or wealth or due to jurisdiction.
Ludacris accused his baby mama of digitally altering photographs of their daughter – which allegedly showed her with face abrasions – and included them in her court filing.
He demanded the judge set a hearing where he will argue his case and wants her demand for attorney fees denied.
