Russell Simmons Receives Crossover Award
This week, PRO2CEO & Prudential, Inc hosted its Sustaining Success Summit (S3) at the Lexus Club inside the Staples Center. The invite only event brought out a number of high-level business executives, professional athletes, and celebrities alike with the common interest of building their personal and business brands beyond sports & entertainment.
PRO2CEO Founders Kevin Carr, Keith Carr, and Tirrell Whittley, invited a panel of individuals with proven financial backgrounds and successful track records in their perspective fields. Panelists included; Karen Hofman (Director of Advanced Market Groups and National Partnership, Prudential), Lanny Smith (Former NBA & CEO of Active Faith Sports), Cassandra Butcher (VP of Publicity, Fox Searchlight), Ryan Nece (Former NFL Pro, CEO of Next Play Capital, Derek Fisher (18 Year NBA Vet, Former Coach & Sports Analyst), and Wendell Haskins (Director of Sports & Entertainment Relations, PGA).
Mogul Russell Simmons was the recipient of the PRO2CEO Career Crossover Award, while Shawne Merriman (NFL All Pro), Glen “Big Baby” Davis (NBA All-American), Vanessa Williams (Actress), NFL Players Zac Diles and Ramses Barden, Maurice Ager (Former NBA Pro), Eva Marcille (Model, Actress) were in attendance.
The panel discussion focused on the challenges faced by high-achieving professionals in making successful career transitions and sustaining success through those transitions. Panelist Derek Fisher touched on “Player Equity” and how staying humble throughout a successful career can help one sustain opportunities far into retirement. Lanny Smith spoke on maintaining your image via social media and being aware of things you post or engage in online as it can affect business partnerships and opportunities.
