Mariah Carey Allegedly Fires Choreographer

Mariah Carey is cleaning house. After a troubling live performance during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest, the singer has parted ways with her longtime creative director and tour choreographer/dancer, Anthony Burrell.

Mariah Carey had a few technical difficulties with her NYE performance.

He’s not being brought back [in 2017] for a number of reasons.

Anthony has worked with Carey for years and is a regular on the singer’s reality show, Mariah’s World. So why is Anthony NOT coming back? Anthony made a performance decision without the approval of Carey or her management team, according to a report.

According to the source, for the NYE performance, he moved Carey’s backup singers off the stage, positioning them at the base of the risers in order to make more room for the dancers. The source claims that Anthony’s decision to move the backup dancers offstage,

left Mariah without any support.

Backup singers can help an artist pick up cues if their inner earpieces malfunction and they can’t hear the music.

Anthony nor Mariah have yet to comment on his departure.
