Floyd Mayweather Fighting McGregor To Pay IRS Debt
Floyd Mayweather Fighting McGregor To Pay IRS
Is Floyd Mayweather Jr. having money problems? Reportedly, the 40-year-old boxing champ is fighting Conor McGregor in their upcoming match because he cannot afford his tax bill.
A US Tax Court petition reveals that he’s filed for an extension because he does not have enough money to pay his bill from 2015. Mayweather has reportedly asked for a reprieve until after the McGregor fight – on August 26 – so he can collect his payday from the bout to pay off the authorities.
According to a report, the petition was filed on July 5. It states that while The Money Team founder has ‘substantial’ assets, he cannot use them to pay the IRS because they are ‘restricted and illiquid’. Mayweather has requested a three-month grace period, which would take him to after the McGregor fight date. No word on how much he owes the IRS.
