‘Chewing Gum’ Series Will NOT Return For 3rd Season
If you’re a fan of “Chewing Gum”, don’t hold your breath in anticipation of another season. The show’s creator, Michaela Coel, confirmed that for now, the hit NETFLIX series will not be back. Her rep confirmed the news stating,
Michaela is not currently writing a third series of Chewing Gum as she is focussing on some other projects, but is not closing the door to the possibility in the future.
Michaela also confirmed the news saying,
I am not writing it for NOW. I would rather make 1 more brilliant TV shows than 7 more subpar seasons of my baby that was so dear to me. No long ting.
She added,
Strived too hard for control over my life to be pushed into doing something that I never agreed to.
Chewing Gum is a TV sitcom set in London. It was written by and stars Michaela Coel, alongside the cast of Robert Lonsdale, Susan Wokoma, Danielle Walters and Tanya Franks. The show features 24-year-old shop assistant Tracey Gordon, a restricted, religious virgin, who wants to have sex and learn more about the world. The show won the BAFTA for Best Female Performance In A Comedy Programme and Breakthrough Talent for Michaela Coel for her work on the show.
