Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson To Star In ‘Fast & Furious’ Spinoff
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s “Fast & Furious” spin-off is officially on it’s way. The highly anticipated Universal film, which will also star Jason Statham, will reportedly be released, July 26, 2019.
Because of the spin-off, “Fast & Furious 9” has been pushed back to 2020. Chris Morgan is reportedly, now writing the spinoff that will focus on Luke Hobbs, the Diplomatic Security Service agent played by Johnson, and Deckard Shaw, an assassin character who was one of the primary bad guys in the franchise before being redeemed and joining the motley crew of antiheroes that make up the roll call.
Sources say that one reason for Fast 9’s delay was to accommodate potential director scheduling. Sources also say Justin Lin may be lining up to return to the franchise and is the top man to helm the core entry of Fast 9.
The spin-off released date seems to be the main reason that “Fast & Furious” actor Tyrese Gibson has publicly criticized The Rock on social media.
Nonetheless, we hear that no deals have been made with the actors.
