Kanye West Fashion Company Settles Lawsuit!
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Kanye West’s fashion company has settled a potentially pricey lawsuit. Here’s the latest: Last month, the rapper turned fashion designer’s West Brands Fashion settled with Derya Gulseven, a Turkish manufacturing sourcing agent who claimed that she was shorted on a commission worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Here’s the backstory: On November 22nd, Gulseven filed a lawsuit against West’s fashion company, detailing in court documents that she was hired in July 2015 to act as a “season-by-season sourcing agent”. She says that assisted West’s company by working with to bring manufacturers in Turkey to produce the clothing. They would then import them into the U.S. Based off this agreement, she claims that she was promised a 7% commission from the total amount of factory delivery invoices.
Gulseven says she worked to find factories in Istanbul to produce the rapper’s Yeezy Season 2, which were set for delivery in May 2016. The total cost of the order was $1,246,043.56.
The discrepancy is believed to have taken place March 2016. She says the order was cancelled with the Turkish manufacturers, and settlements were made. However, she claims to have never received her expected commission — $87,223.05.
Despite this, Gulseven continued working with West Brands Fashion, claiming a few months later another order was placed in Turkey for Yeezy Season 3. This totaled $2,413,944 and she expected a $168,976.08 commission.
She says that when the clothes were delivered, West’s company decreased her commission from 7% to 4%. She says they paid her even less, giving her a check for only $77,246.25.
Despite this, Gulseven continued working with the company on Yeezy Season 4, with no payment again. She sued, claiming they breached their contract multiple times. She asked for $228,000 plus damages.
