Eva Marcille’s Boyfriend Is Russell Simmons Lawyer

Eva Marcille’s boyfriend and baby daddy Michael Sterling, is one of the attorneys representing Russell Simmons against accusations that he has raped and/or sexually assaulted multiple women. Simmons is also being represented by attorney E. Carlos Tanner.

Sterling made headlines recently, when his America’s Next Top Model alum girlfriend announced that they were expecting their first child together. Sterling resides in Georgia and ran for mayor during the past election.

Earlier this month, Marcille publicly defended Simmons, whom she is friends with on social media writing:

Allegations and accusations are not facts…how quick we are to condemn an amazing man because of what someone says…what about his denial of these horrible accusations, do they not have weight? I know Russell to be an amazing upstanding man period.

As previously reported, in November 2017, model Keri Claussen Khalighi accused Simmons of sexual assault in 1991. Simmons and Brett Ratner, who was also accused by Khalighi of watching them without intervening when she asked for his help, both deny that the encounter was non-consensual. As the allegation was covered in the press, Terry Crews accused Simmons of attempting to influence him to take back sexual assault allegations that Crews had recently brought up against film executive Adam Venit, asking that Crews “give him a pass … ask that he be reinstated.”  On November 30, 2017, writer Jenny Lumet claimed that Simmons had assaulted her in 1991. In response, Simmons said he would step down from his positions with his businesses. On the same day, HBO announced that they are removing Simmons’s name and his likeness from his stand-up comedy specials starting with the December 1 episode.

Women who said they had been sexually harassed or assaulted (including attempted rape) by Simmons include:

2. Keri Claussen Khalighi, model.
3. Lisa Kirk.
4. Toni Sallie, reporter.
5. Amanda Seales, actor.

Women who said they had been raped by Simmons include:

1. Jenny Lumet, playwright.
2. Sherri Hines, musician.
3. Tina Baker, singer-turned-lawyer.
4. Drew Dixon, former music recording executive.

Simmons maintains his innocence and recently posted the following on social media.

Today, I begin to properly defend myself. I will prove without any doubt that I am innocent of all rape charges. Today, I will focus on “The Original Sin” (Keri Claussen), the claim that created this insane pile on of my #MeToo. Stay tuned! We’ll share information today… And tomorrow the case of Jenny Lumet. My intention is not to diminish the #MeToo movement in anyway, but instead hold my accusers accountable. #NotMe Again, this is not a movement against or even in conjunction with #Metoo . It’s just a statement about my innocence.

Sterling posted the following clip to his Instagram account writing,

We are personally very committed and moved by the national climate that is unearthing a lot of very troubling incidents that have been silenced too long. In our case, we are being diligent and assiduous about understanding what happened and what *did not* happen. As critical as the movement is to us, we know that sensationalism and speculation doesn’t help forward any of our understandings of the issues, but every accusation is an opportunity to unveil more truths.
