Kim Burrell Appearance Canceled, Singer Still Faces Backlash For Anti Gay ‘Perverted’ Remarks

Kim Burrell is still facing backlash for remarks that she made last year about gay people. The preacher and gospel singer was scheduled to speak at a state legislative minority caucus weekend church service in Albany on Sunday. However, her appearance was abruptly canceled. The group’s executive director, M. Diana Campbell, said in a statement,

Once her previous statements came to our attention, we decided to go in a different direction and the engagement was cancelled.

Burrell made headlines in 2017 after a sermon denouncing homosexuality went viral. In the clip, Burrell stated,

That perverted homosexual spirit is the spirit of delusion and confusion and has deceived many men and women. And it has caused a stain on the body of Christ.

Referring to the act of homosexuality “perverted” and a “sin” she advised:

Anybody in this room who’s filled with the homosexual spirit, beg God to free you. You play with it in 2017, you’ll die from it.

After receiving backlash from her comments, Burrell clarified her comments stating,

To every person that is dealing with the homosexual spirit, that has it, I love you because God loves you. But God hates the sin in you and me, anything that is against the nature of God. I’m called to do what God called me to do, and that’s it, and I do it with passion.

Here’s a clip of her clarifying her statements below:

Should Burrell still be punished for the comments she made about the LGBTQ community?

Too bad! He comments were spoken at a church function and the function she was cancelled from was a church function as well. I am confused. The body of Christ believes what she said (most anyway), yet instead of standing on their conviction/principle that they stand by, the back track. Does the church stand on anything? They should NOT be considered to be politically correct….I am so confused. I pray that the Lord continues to bless her.
