EXCLUSIVE: Jeezy Dropped By Lawyer For Not Paying Legal Bills – He Owes Me Money!
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, Jeezy’s (Jay Wayne Jenkins) lawyer is demanding the court allow them to drop the rapper as their client due to his refusal to pay his legal bills. On March 14, Jeezy’s lawyer, N. Lucy Chuwaurah, filed a motion to withdraw as his counsel in the legal battle. The lawyer states the trial for the case is scheduled to begin October 2018. Jeezy’s lawyer says the rapper has failed to pay the law firm since last November. They explain,
Defendant has substantially failed to fulfill his obligation to pay Defense counsel attorneys’ fees and expenses under the written retainer agreement. As a result, continued representation would impose a burden of financial hardship on Defense counsel. Defense counsel advised Defendant multiple times that if he did not fulfill his obligation under the retainer agreement, counsel would seek leave from the Court to withdraw as counsel of record for Plaintiff.
The lawyer says Jeezy told them the payment was coming, but payment was never made. Further, Chuwaurah accuses the rapper of failing to pay other expenses relating to the case. The motion says Jeezy has an ability to pay his bills, but has refused to pay, saying there is no realistic hope that the situation will change and is demanding the court allow the firm to drop Jeezy. If the motion is granted, Jeezy will have to find another lawyer quickly to represent him in the case.
Chuwaurah was repping Jeezy in a lawsuit against a concert promoter named Darryl Austin. Jeezy is suing the promoter for $1 million, accusing him of trashing his name and harming his reputation.
