Kenya Barris
Is Kenya Barris throwing up the deuces to ABC Studios? According to reports, the Black-ish creator is actively trying to get out of his overall deal with the studio.
Sources claim that he is having initial talks with Netflix. Last year, Shonda Rhimes snagged an alleged nine-figure mega-deal with the streaming service, leaving ABC Studios.
Barris’ alleged departure comes amidst reports that ABC pulled a politically themed episode of Black-ish, following creative differences between ABC and Barris. [Click here for the backstory].
Barris is currently working with Netflix for a feature film reboot of “Shaft”, starring Samuel L. Jackson. He is also rewriting a script for a sequel to Eddie Murphy’s “Coming to America.”
