Kevin Hart Relives Cheating Scandal In J.Cole’s “Kevin’s Heart” Video
J. Cole’s latest video “Kevin’s Heart” alludes to actor Kevin Hart’s cheating scandal back in 2017 and how he deals with aftermath. Directed by Cole (born Jermaine Cole) and Scott Lazer, the five minute clip gets personal, with Kevin looking reflective, his humor is light hearted and self-deprecating. Cole makes a brief cameo with Hart stroller shopping.
In the opening scene, Kevin goes grocery shopping and gets stared down by men and women who judge him as he casually walks up and down the aisles. He’s oblivious to the glares at first, but at the checkout stand he notices everyone’s awkward stares. Then in his car, Kevin overhears radio hosts discuss his “scandal” before a woman pulls up next to him, waving and starts flirting, an older woman looks over at him all disgusted and disappointed.
The title itself is ironic, throughout the video, Kevin wears a leather jacket embellished with multi-colored heart fragments on the back while driving his car to the grocery shopping, to buying a new stroller, taking a picture with an overly eager fan, all while trying to get through his day and just live his life, it feels like he’s implying that he’s putting his heart out there hoping for some forgiveness, but still gets judged.
Towards the end in midst of frustration in the Men’s bathroom, he encounters solid wisdom from a stranger.
Nobody’s perfect and you’re only human. Learn from it, man. Learn from it.
Hart arrives home to see the clouds formed a message that resonates throughout “KOD”: “Choose wisely.”
