Meek Mill Pens Open Letter About His Case, Calls Out Dirty Cop: I Deserve A New Trial!
Meek Mill is currently out on bail and if he wants to remain a free man, he believes he needs a new trial. However, some believe that Judge Genece Brinkley, the judge who is ruling of his case, is being unfair.
In June, Brinkley denied the rapper’s request for a new trial. In his appeal, Meek questioned the integrity of his arresting officer, Reginald Graham. Graham was also the sole testifying witness in Meek Mill’s 2008 case.
Now, reportedly there is audio of an off-record conversation where Judge Brinkley’s lawyer believes that his client is wrong and that Meek Mill should indeed be granted a new trial. While shooting a documentary about Philadelphia’s justice system, Brinkley’s attorney, A. Charles Peruto Jr., accidentally spoke into a hot mic where he said that he would have granted Meek Mill a new trial. He followed with “prosecution and defense agree — goodbye.” He also could be heard saying, “She looks f—ing awful,” as it pertains to Brinkley.
Peruto says that he has not wavered from the support of his client and though he does not deny that he said those things, he believes they should not be quoted. “If I said something off the record, it should not be on the transcript,” Peruto said.
Meek Mill has opinions of his case as well, saying that he knows if he were to get a second trial, his case would be dismissed.
