Ciara & Keri Hilson Make Rare Appearance Together After Vintage Rumors of Fallout
In 2009, Keri Hilson made a decision that may have plagued her for her entire career. The singer/songwriter released a remix to her hit single “Turnin’ Me On” that included lyrics that many believe were geared towards fellow singers Beyonce and Ciara. In the song, Keri said:
There’s just somethin on my chest that I need to get off, / Cause you turnin me off / Your vision cloudy if you think that you’re the best / You can dance she can sing but she need to move it to the left / She need to go have some babies / She needs to sit down, she fake / Them other chicks ain’t even worth my time to talk about
Ciara and Beyonce went on to dance, sing and have babies while Keri, over time, quietly fell back from the music industry. However, over the weekend, it appears that Keri and Ciara have confirmed that they’ve made amends.
The two were guests at the BMI Awards in Atlanta where Janet Jackson was being honored. They were photographed together, all smiles, along with Marlo Hampton and Nene Leakes.
Keri has maintained that the infamous track was not geared towards Beyonce and Ciara and was blown out of proportion by social media. Back in 2010, she spoke to MTV about Ciara, saying:
It was unfortunate because we used to be really good friends. We let the media get in the way and speak for us, and we weren’t speaking to each other.
Timbaland, who appeared on the track with Keri, spoke to Revolt TV in 2013 about releasing another song with Keri, titled “Sorry”, falling out with Jay-Z and Beyonce.
I got this one song that I did with Keri on my album called ‘Sorry,’ and Keri actually tells the story about the whole Beyoncé thing and how she was sorry about it because she wasn’t really talking about Beyoncé, but other people.
Ciara and Keri reportedly let bygones be bygones shortly after the initial diss track but their friendship hadn’t gone back to where it used to be. The two are very rarely spotted together. It’s good to see them all smiles.
