Meghan Markle’s Sister Apologizes To Her Live On Television

Meghan Markle’s sister Samantha issued an apology on Jeremy Vine’s talk show this morning after a failed attempt at reaching out to her sister face to face. According to Samantha, she traveled all the way to the U.K. to visit her sister but she wa shunned. She tells the show that she deeply regrets her and her father’s actions towards her sister, especially leading up to and after her royal wedding. She says,

I’ve always wanted to see London, but really I wanted to make the trip and sort of speak the wishes and thoughts and sentiments of my father, and hopefully get a message to my sister/ Things aren’t really what they seem. There’s so much misperception. Hopefully, we could clear up record and move forward with peaceful resolve. I would just say that there is so much water under the bridge and so much has spun out of control that was never intended to. I think everybody was hurt not being included or invited to the wedding, but I felt as though it could have all been nipped in the bud had everyone been included, and we all just agreed to move forward with positive resolve.

She continued,

The hurt feelings wouldn’t have snowballed, but believe it or not, it doesn’t mean that we love you any less, I just think that families can be this way when there’s confusion and people are hurt. Moving forward, I apologize and wish things could be different.

Samantha was pressed by Jeremy Vine about her father’s actions leading up to Meghan’s wedding — specifically staging photo opps and apparently to be capitalizing off of Meghan’s fame. Samantha says that what she and her father did was not for money, but because she was tired of the paparazzi making her father look like a “slob.” She says,

The logic behind that, really, is that I became so tired of him being purposely photographed in such a terrible way, in a disparaging way. He was turning down $50,000 interviews—so clearly, money was not the goal. And the small amount of money that he received—1,500 Pounds—the photographers made the money, not my father.

It’s highly unlikely that Samantha will get any public acknowledgment from Meghan, but it’s worth a shot.
